Operatic Crossover Soprano

Victoria Gydov is an award-winning, versatile operatically trained singer, with a broad vocal range, recording and voice-over artist, actress, songwriter and lyricist experienced in presenting opera, operetta, oratorio, crossover, musical theatre, jazz, Christian contemporary, EDM music, and most recently, film-inspired vocal music.  Originally from Copenhagen, Denmark, she has lived, trained and performed in Europe, the U.S. and Canada for many years in a variety of concerts in churches, theatrical and operatic productions, and with orchestras, at festivals, on TV, radio and recordings. She can be heard on four vocal pieces on Jo Blankenburg's album, "Sentience", which you can explore further, and she has recently released her newest Italian pop-crossover single, sung in Italian and English:"Destini" (Destinies), which can be heard here!

The Danish "Little Mermaid":
From lovely Copenhagen, Denmark
To Three States in The Great U.S.A., 
To Small-Town Ontario, Canada!

Victoria's life has certainly taken many turns...as well as her journey...but her aim has always been to follow her heart, dreams and passions, wherever they and The Lord may lead her! Although she has lived in Denmark and the U.S.A. for many years, she has called Canada her "other-other-home" for the past 20 years, where she has lovingly decorated a beautiful 1881 Victorian Italianate-style brick manse with her Canadian husband and recording engineer, Brian Burnes in the beautiful countryside of Southwestern Ontario!

"Singing and Living with Passion"

A truly bold and passionate artist, willing to take on new challenges and risks, Victoria puts her heart and spirit into everything she performs, and is most drawn to beautifully orchestrated music with a positive message, and the potential for heights of drama and deep emotion, that allows her to immerse herself in the story or character, and that creates powerful moments to uplift and encourage others.


Besides performing in stage productions, she has appeared at music festivals, private, corporate and special events, fundraisers and in churches.  In concerts and recordings, you will often hear a beautiful and exciting selection of highlights ranging from moving opera arias from Madama Butterfly and La Traviata, operetta greats from Giuditta and Candide, Broadway hits from Cats, The Phantom of The Opera, and The Sound of Music, to unforgettable crossover songs also sung by Sarah Brightman, Andrea Bocelli, Josh Groban and IL Divo, as well as beloved Neapolitan and art songs made famous by opera singers such as Luciano Pavarotti and Maria Callas. 


Being a woman of faith, and having sung in churches since the age of 7, Victoria also loves to share Christian contemporary songs and hymns, and sometimes shares entertaining favorites from Disney and other animated films!

 

As a recording artist, Victoria has created numerous recordings throughout the years in her Victorian home's studio "The VIC" (Managed by her husband, Recording Engineer, Brian Burnes), as well as  at Jukasa Studios and Phase One Studios in Toronto, some of which she has freely shared on YouTube and SoundCloud! Victoria has fun collaborating with electronic dance music and modern composers, and has multiple songs available for purchase on iTunes and other platforms, with new releases in the works!
